Amateur Radio, CB, and Weather in New Gloucester, Maine

About me

I put this little corner of the web together as an easy way to share my contact information on the air. At the core, I’m into pretty much anything that moves a signal from point A to point B: ham radio, shortwave listening, CB radio, satellite communications, Meshtastic, and whatever else makes the speaker crackle to life. I also enjoy building and experimenting with electronics and internet networking—everything from wiring up gear in the shack to making sure the packets get where they’re supposed to go.

It all started when I was about 11, with a CB radio my parents bought at a yard sale and helped me set up at home. That simple setup quickly snowballed into police scanners, then ham radio, and eventually a career in commercial two‑way radio. These days I still work in the electronics industry, mostly on medical gear instead of radios, but the love of RF and tinkering never really left.

Along the way, that curiosity turned into a home weather station project and the live weather dashboard you see on this site. I like having my own little window into what the sky is doing right over New Gloucester, and tying radios, sensors, and networking together into one system is exactly the kind of project I enjoy.

You can blame my friends on the radio for my social media presence. They kept telling me they enjoyed hearing what I was tinkering with and what projects I had going, so I figured there might be a few more people out there in radio land who’d be curious too.

When I’m not chasing signals, watching the weather data roll in, or soldering something together, I like a quieter life with family and friends. I spend as much time as I can in the Maine North Woods at camp—fishing, hunting, riding ATVs and snowmobiles, catching up with good company, and watching the dogs have a blast finding birds.
